If you have to allocate 6 months of living expenses as a part of the cost of your new business, that could be the largest part of your investment and if you don’t include that in your planning, you could be in real trouble.

This is where Dine-In Delivery is different. Here’s how to start your restaurant meal delivery business part time while you keep doing whatever you are doing now.

Your first step after we conduct the initial phase comprehensive business review is to sign up the restaurants for your menu guide. As part of the review process, a Dine-In Delivery representative experienced at presenting the value proposition spends a week at your location meeting with you and the prospective restaurants.

For this example, let’s assume you have decided you want to have 15 restaurants to open (people have opened with as few as 6). Dine-In Delivery operators already have relationships with national chains like Quizno’s, Marie Callender’s, On-the-Border and others so getting started with them is easier as a result.

You can arrange to meet with the restaurant owners after work or on your lunch hour. Let’s say it takes 6 weeks to actually get in touch with and sign up your restaurants. You then need to get their menu artwork and find out if there are any items they want deleted before you go to press.

Let’s be conservative and say it takes you another 4 – 6 weeks to pick up artwork, have your printer make any changes and get it back to the restaurant owner for approval.

The actual time to do these things is insignificant; the time comes from setting up appointments to meet with people and getting them to meet with you again briefly to approve the art in the menu

All this is easy stuff, but if you are planning on getting 15 people to have approved their artwork, time is needed to get those meetings. If someone is out of town for a couple weeks, that can slow down your whole project 2 weeks.

This is why I’m using a conservative total time of 10 – 12 weeks.

Note that, so far, you have not needed to stop whatever you currently do to earn a living. Toward the end of that time you are also hiring drivers and a dispatcher. That can be done after 5 because your candidates are hoping to be working for you after 5:00 PM anyway.

Once your menu guides are printed and your drivers are lined up, you are ready to go and still haven’t stopped your day job.

You actually may never have to quit what you do now if you run your Dine-In Delivery food delivery service business for dinner only from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Once you send out the menu guides, the calls start and you are in business.

Keep running it part time, or do it full time and have your days free, or even better, once you have it up and running have someone else run it and have both your days and evenings free…

One of our operators called us to tell us they had hit their break even point after only 3 weeks and were now making money.
